Nepal, and other regions around the world has abundant water, but it’s poorly distributed.

Poor distribution means that remote communities have no option but to remain close to running water, and rely on seasonal rainfall to water their crops.

GDP per capita, for these remote communities is low, as are their health metrics.

Water, elevated to allow irrigation and domestic running water is essential to changing their reality.

Dams are usually built on rivers, and as a result have to maintain a rate of attrition .to keep water flowing down stream.

Without the input of energy, dams can only provide water to areas below the dam wall.

But …

FPA Power Units can harness the energy in the existing out-flow of a dam to deliver significant volumes of water for high level canal distribution.

Water distribution by canal is effective, economical, and transformative for communities living below the network, and above the dam wall.

We settled where the water flows. This is evidenced by the fact that all major cities and communities exist where water is, or at least once was, abundant and on the surface.

Growing populations have prompted the evolution of the means to store water, to divert it from one place to another by gravity using canals, sumps and aqueducts, and to draw it out of the ground with wells and ultimately with submersible pumps.

Ground water depletion is an existential problem, and we are now faced with a need to relocate water to places separated from its source by mountains and many linear kilometres.

Tunnels are an option of course, to allow water to flow naturally to its destination, and electric pumps could be used, but the cost of moving city scale quantities of water to significant elevations are prohibitive and require grid infrastructure to provide power to the pumps.

FPA Technology can do the job without the grid infrastructure and the cost associated with energy consumption.
